Chorus Pro: prepare a French subcontractor invoice

Informational guide. An independent qualified legal review has not been completed.

A subcontractor entitled to direct payment sends an invoice or payment request through the appropriate Chorus Pro workflow. Simple invoices and works payment requests use different routes: distinguish A 9 from A 10. Check the contractor, public recipient, supporting documents and validation stages. Intermediate validation does not prove payment. Julie can help prepare documents without an automatic connection to Chorus Pro.

Example question

Does a private invoice use this public workflow?

Julie Illustration

No. This workflow concerns the public framework in the manuals. Private projects require their contractual routes and relevant direct-action analysis.

What you leave withAn invoice-type submission and tracking sheet for manual use in the official portal.

Start with the practical section

Does the request use A 9 or A 10?

Chorus Pro manuals distinguish the A9 subcontractor request from the A10 works workflow. Identify contract, invoice and direct-payment admission before choosing the framework. A private invoice does not enter this system merely because a subcontractor is involved.

Which actors take part in the workflow?

The request passes through actors with different roles. The main contractor validates within its scope; other competent actors then process according to the workflow. Clarify a wrong actor or framework before concluding that payment was refused.

  1. Subcontractor

Prepares invoice, framework and direct-payment evidence.

  2. Main contractor

Participates in validation under the applicable workflow.

  3. Processing actors

Continue the workflow before actual payment.

How do you prepare before opening Chorus Pro?

The sheet prepares points to take into Chorus Pro. It does not connect to an account, file invoices or retrieve status. If direct-payment admission or the validator is unknown, retain that uncertainty rather than selecting a recipient at random.

What does an A 10 works request show?

For the fictional A10 works request, distinguish transmission, contractor involvement and further processing. Validation is not bank evidence. Record the exact status, date and actor without renaming an intermediate status paid.

Worked example · fictional facts

Fictional example: a works subcontractor prepares an A 10 request. The sheet separates submission, contractor validation, other processing and payment; validated does not mark paid.

Which evidence should you retain at each validation?

Keep the submitted request, attachments, file reference and status messages. Connect each action to its actor. For a Julie question, describe framework and blockage without login credentials; portal work remains manual.

  • Chosen framework and direct-payment admission.
  • Invoice and contract records.
  • Reference, exact status, date and processing messages.

When should you clarify a status rather than infer payment?

A transmitted, validated, rejected or pending request requires reading its message and applicable workflow. Ask which actor should act and what evidence is missing. Do not derive a certain payment date from an intermediate status; later reconcile actual settlement with the request.

What else should you check?

Does a private invoice use this public workflow?

No. This workflow concerns the public framework in the manuals. Private projects require their contractual routes and relevant direct-action analysis.

Are A 9 and A 10 interchangeable?

No. A9 and A10 are distinct frameworks. Verify invoice type and the works workflow.

Is contractor validation the payment authorisation?

No. Contractor validation is one stage, not proof of payment or confirmation of every later step.

Does a wrong validator require recipient clarification?

Yes. Verify contractor, other actors and framework before redirecting. A wrongly identified actor can block processing.

Can Julie submit the invoice to the portal?

No. Julie can help prepare and understand records. This page has no integration, API or automatic filing in Chorus Pro.

Which sources support this page?

Official texts remain in French. The explanations above describe French law. A source check records a reading date; it is not qualified legal review.
