Ciclade: five checks for unclaimed funds in France

Ciclade searches for funds already transferred to France’s Caisse des Dépôts. A possible match is followed by claimant and evidence verification; it is not an established payment entitlement. Timing depends on the product, inactivity, death or maturity event. Identity details belong in the official service, not this preparation page, and an unsuccessful search does not prove that funds never existed.

Does every product follow ten years plus twenty?

No. Death, isolated PEL and life insurance have distinct routes. Identify product, holder and starting event before using a period.

What are the five checks for a funds search?

These five checks follow the search process: identify product and holder before interpreting a result. They rank no competing services and promise no money.

  1. Identify the product

Bank accounts, PEL and life insurance can follow different routes.

  2. Separate institution from CDC

Ciclade concerns money already transferred to Caisse des Dépôts.

  3. Reconstruct events and periods

Inactivity, known death and contractual maturity have different starting points.

  4. Check claimant capacity

Holder, heir, beneficiary or representative needs appropriate evidence.

  5. Read the result cautiously

A match starts verification; it is not an acquired payout.

Are funds still with the bank or already transferred?

Ciclade searches money already transferred to Caisse des Dépôts. Funds still held by a bank or insurer do not automatically appear there.

Identify institution, product and known events. The relevant route depends on where funds may remain, not simply the age of a recollection.

Which periods differ by product and holder?

Periods differ by product and holder. Preserve the starting event: death is not interchangeable with insurer knowledge of death or account inactivity.

The table summarises ordinary routes and the specified isolated-PEL case; each regime’s conditions and exclusions still need checking.

Which periods differ by product and holder?
RouteBefore transferThen at CDC
Ordinary inactive bank account, living holderTen years under the statutory eventTwenty years
Relevant deceased-holder bank accountThree years after deathTwenty-seven years
Isolated PEL special frameworkTwenty years under its conditionsTen years
Relevant life insurance/capitalisationTen years from death knowledge or maturityTwenty years

Which claimant capacity will need evidence?

A restitution claimant must establish capacity for the product. Being a relative, holding an old letter or finding a match may be insufficient.

Separate holder, heir, beneficiary and representative. The official service examines required records; this guide decides neither succession nor beneficiary status.

How should a possible match be read cautiously?

A possible match is not a restitution decision. It leads to an application, identity/capacity verification and service examination.

Do not rely on an amount or date before confirmation. No universal processing or payout deadline was verified here.

Does a deceased-holder account transferred after three years use twenty more years?

In the ordinary fictional deceased-holder case, three years before transfer are followed by twenty-seven at CDC. Applying twenty after that transfer would mix routes.

Product, event date and claimant capacity remain to establish. This example searches no account and confirms no recoverable money.

Worked example · fictional facts

Fictional ordinary deceased-holder bank-account route: transfer occurs after three years, followed by twenty-seven years at Caisse des Dépôts. Product, triggering events and claimant capacity still require verification.

Which evidence belongs with the official service?

Prepare evidence requested by the official service: identity, capacity and relevant death, succession or representation records. Payment details belong in that process.

This page requests no copies or bank credentials. A Julie question can describe the legal issue without reproducing complete sensitive records.

What if the search shows no result?

No result does not prove a product never existed. Money may not yet have transferred, follow another route or require checking with the institution.

Revisit product, institution and known events before concluding. Search output does not replace account or contract records.

What else should you check?

Does every product follow ten years plus twenty?

No. Death, isolated PEL and life insurance have distinct routes. Identify product, holder and starting event before using a period.

References : Légifrance · article L312-20 · Légifrance · article L132-27-2

Does a deceased holder follow the living-holder period?

No. The ordinary deceased-holder bank route shown uses three years before transfer and twenty-seven at CDC, rather than ten plus twenty.

References : Légifrance · article L312-20

Does an isolated older PEL use the ordinary route?

No. The isolated-PEL special case can use twenty years before transfer and ten at CDC under its conditions. Do not extend it to every product.

References : Légifrance · article L312-20

Does a match produce immediate payment?

No. The service must verify claimant capacity and evidence. A possible match is neither entitlement nor a payment date.

Must an intermediary receive identifiers to use this page?

No. Reading this guide needs no bank credentials. Any required evidence belongs in the appropriate official process, not with a third party merely to use this page.
